Some sad news yesterday: Adam Yauch AKA MCA of The Beastie Boys(and my fav of the group) has passed away at the age of 47.  He had been battling cancer since 2009.  More than just an MC, he was also a musician, activist and director; read Rolling Stone's obit here.  For a lot of people like me who grew up in the 80's and 90's, The Beasties were pretty signifigant; they simultaneously appealed to the rap crowd and the rock crowd, which led to my theory in my younger days that putting on a Beasties CD at a party was a sure bet: everyone would be down with it.  MCA, you will be missed.  RIP.
