Album Review

Stomping New Orleans R&B and barrelhouse blues by pianist/vocalist Paul Gayten and vocalist Annie Laurie. Although he moved to Los Angeles from New Orleans in the early '50s, Gayten never lost the second-line beat. The duo didn't enjoy as much success with this Specialty material as they did on Deluxe and Regal, but it's still wonderful, vibrant R&B in the great swing and bawdy tradition.
