It’s cloudy…again. I’m working on my 5th cup of coffee, and running on 3 hours of sleep, and I think I’m delirious. I peeled myself out of bed this morning feeling waterlogged and weighed down with a list of grievances that can only come from a dreary Calgary May…then I remembered! Hello my fellow friends in fashion! This morning, was one of those perfect spring mornings (aside from it being freezing)! I woke up to strands of liquid gold sunshine pouring through the curtains...and I was instantly happy because I knew I could wear my new Ray Bans without looking like I was either hungover or hiding from the law. I decided a few weeks ago to make the investment in a nice pair of sunglasses. Between a week on the beach, and a wedding in the desert, I fiqured this was my year to actually protect my eyes, and look wicked while doing so! Spring! One more week, and I can legit start looking forward to lunches on patios, window shopping on 17th Avenue, and getting a little bit of color on my pasty white legs! Sounds like the perfect time for a hand bag switch up too! It’s like an unwritten fashion law for me…the warmer the weather gets, the bigger my purse becomes. Give me a break! Proof Fashion inspiration can come from anywhere…my boyfriend LOVES James Bond movies, but I’ve actually seen very few. He forced me to sit down last night and watch “Dr. No”…and not only did I actually like it…the looks were to die for! Maybe it’s because I’m looking forward to a beach vacation coming up in April, maybe it’s because we’ve had some wicked weather the past few weeks…maybe it’s just that time of year! Either way, bathing suit season will soon be upon us, and I could NOT love the Ursula Andress belted bikini any more (I know Halle rocked the look too…but there’s just something about the original)! With retro swimsuits making a big beach come back lately, this is definitely a version I’ll be looking for this year! And, I love the idea of using an oversized men’s button up shirt as a cover up. One of the best feelings in the world has to be getting the opportunity to stand up for one of your very best friends as they walk down the aisle, and start their happily ever after. I am SO excited, because this year…I get to do it for the first time! I figure, if there was ever a time to get a really special pair of shoes…this is it! I love living here...especially on winter days like today! With the sun shining, the Chinook wind blowing, and the snow melting...spring never feels THAT far away. And when we get days like this, I find myself browsing for a warm getaway, and of course, the outfits to go with it. So throw on the sunglasses, make a mojito, and find some inspiration in these summer pics! Victoria’s Secret is one of my personal favorites around this time...easy online shopping, with GREAT pics, stunning swimsuits, cute beach dresses, and sandals to go with everything. I'm also LOVING some of the summer looks from Max Azrai (LOVE the patterned pant) the fringe bikini trend (like this version from L Space), and think that no girl can go wrong with a simple Black Bikini (also from L Space). Happy New Year Fashion Mavens! I must admit, I hate making resolutions, New Years, or any other for that matter...I hate that guilty feeling that comes along the second you can't follow through on ideas that seemed like a great idea after a bottle of champagne on NYE. I do however adore setting goals...and in that spirit, I've decided to set a few for the fashionable side of me for 2013. Confession, Sometimes I get lazy. Being creative with your wardrobe can get to be so much work! Combine that with a crazy schedule, and a tight budget, and it's just easier to grab the same old stand bys out of the laundry bin every week (I wash them, I swear!). It must be the holidays…I’m craving Champagne and trying to incorporate glitter in to every outfit! Already, I’ve started to browse for NYE outfits…and being liking Rickety Rack (a wicked online dress shop) on Facebook has planted vision of gold and sequins in my head! What better day than New Years Eve to go a little over board, and rock some glow…from a simple sequined belt…to full glitter dresses (SO Mowtown Back Up singer). If head to toe gold is too bold...I love pairing glitter heels in any color with a black dress. It adds just enough drama and you don't feel like a disco ball. Even if you’re staying in…consider rocking a pair of glittery flats or sequined Toms to celebrate! 2013…time to get noticed!

Okay…Starbucks has been in full Christmas mode for weeks. Carols are blasting from every store, I’ve already been to my holiday party AND recovered…I can’t help it. The countdown is on and I’m already mentally at Christmas morning, sipping a mulled cider by the fire…wearing…PJ’S! My family has some wacky traditions…as a result we NEVER did Christmas Morning (dinner only!). Last year was the first time I stayed home, and had a real, traditional festive morning with my boyfriend and his family. I’m a total junky now! I’m already shopping around, putting my favorite PJ’s on the list so I can sport them on the big day. Seeing some super cute versions out there, the traditional silk, flannel, and an adorable long john version from Victoria’s Secret and a few at H&M (gotta love the ones with Bambi on them!).
