Last week, Aussie singer dude Gotye made history. He's only the 4th Australian artist to have a Billboard Hot 100 #1 song. Savage Garden, INXS and Men at Work were the previous 3. Somebody That I Used to Know

has blown up. It’s EVERYWHERE! Even on Glee.

In the past, not every artist has been down with their songs being Glee-a-fied. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters refused to let the show use his songs. Gotye was a little less impressed with the end product of Glee doing their version of his hit. Before he played at Coachella he said: “They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals but the vocals were that pop Glee style, ultra dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense, like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box.”

This is just my opinion, but I think Gotye speaks on behalf of good Television and Music everywhere. I know every week after the new Glee…iTunes sales of their songs boom. I know Glee is a popular show. It might be one of your favorites...BUT I just don’t get it.

So thank you, Gotye for standing up against Pop Culture at it’s cheesiest. And let me say…although I hated your song for the first while it was out. Unlike Glee…I totally get it now.
