50 Shades of Grey Soundtrack...I'm Disappointed :(

50 Shades of Grey, the Cultural Phenomenon...has been a big part of my life recently. My wife Kelly is/was/probably always will be OBSESSED with the series. When I heard there was a Soundtrack coming out, I started thinking about what songs should be on it.

You shared your ideas too, on the Text Off one day.

Let's Get It On, Red Light Special, Hurts So Good, S&M...think about it, they're all PERFECT to create an atmosphere for Erotica!

Apparently, the makers of the CD had other ideas. The soundtrack is all Classical songs. I'm sure some of them sound sexy, it's just not as fun without Rihanna saying dirty stuff, I guess.

If you're still interested, here's the track listing for the CD. It's available where fine music is sold!

1              Lakmé (Act I): Flower Duet (Mady Mesplé, Danielle Millet)

2              Bach: Adagio from Concerto #3 BWV 974 (Alexandre Tharaud)

3              Villa-Lobos: Bachianas Brasilerias #5 – Cantilena (Barbara Hendricks)

4              Verdi: La Traviata Prelude (Riccardo Muti / Philharmonia Orchestra)

5              Pachelbel: Canon in D (Sir Neville Marriner/ Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields)

6              Tallis: Spem in Alium (The Tallis Scholars)

7              Chopin: Prelude #4 in E minor, Largo (Samson François)

8              Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto #2 - Adagio Sostenuto (Cecile Ousset, Sir Simon Rattle / CBSO)

9              Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis (Sir Adrian Boult / LPO)

10           Canteloube: Chants d'auvergne, Bailero (Arleen Auger)

11           Chopin: Nocturne #1 in B-flat minor (Samson François)

12           Faure: Requiem - In Paradisum (Choir of King’s College, Cambridge / Stephen Cleobury)

13           Bach: Goldberg Variation - Aria (Maria Tipo)

14           Debussy: La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin (Moura Lympany)

15           Bach: Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (Alexis Weissenberg)

Wow....sounds like the author's got a stick stuck somewhere because for an erotic novel, she sure sounds like this should be treated like some of the classics of literature. I think I may have just vomited a bit in my mouth. I'm not a fan of this type of genre, but if you want to create a mood, I'm sorry, Pachelbel's Canon is NOT the way to do it. I even loathe the fact that it's overused at weddings. I've played some of these over the years, and have some of them on other CDs, but I'm with you. Definitely NOT the songs to play.
