WHO: Hull Child and Family Services is pleased to present Re-Frame: The Kids at Hull.
WHAT: Please join us as we celebrate 50 years of helping kids and families. We invite you to attend our first in a series of events highlighting our past, present and future as 2012 marks Hull’s 50th Anniversary. Re-Frame: The Kids at Hull, will focus on our kids and how art plays a significant role in their healing.
Many of the kids and families with Hull have had Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) and childhood trauma such as abuse, neglect, domestic violence, poverty, social disadvantages and genetic/biological circumstances. With help and support, they can overcome these and build happy, healthy lives.
Creating art can be an empowering, therapeutic experience. It is a safe outlet for emotion and helps kids to resolve conflicts, develop interpersonal skills, reduce stress and increase self-esteem. Children can often draw things that they cannot speak about. Once they express their feelings, the healing process can begin. Guests will be moved as they experience the incredible art created by youth from Hull.
